AMARILLO -- A DPS traffic stop Sunday on IH-40 yielded over 100 pounds of marijuana valued at over $484,000.
At 3:34 p.m., a DPS trooper pulled over a 2013 Volkswagen Passat traveling eastbound on IH-40, for a traffic violation, near Bushland in Potter County.
During the traffic stop, the trooper discovered 107 bundles of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.
The occupants of the Passat were identified as Vianca Lizeth Casas, 22, of Livingston, Calif. and Carlos Castrejon, 28, of Winton, Calif.
Casas and Castrejon were placed under arrest for possession of a controlled substance, a second-degree felony, and booked into the Potter County Jail. The illegal drugs were allegedly being transported from Livingston, California to Dallas.
