Dozens Dead in Wake of Storms

Tornadoes claim at least 33 lives over two days, with more storms in the forecast.
(NBC News)  Another wave of tornados pushed across several states Monday night.

Dozens of twisters touched down from Louisiana to Tennessee, destroying hundreds of homes and killing 11 people.  That brings the death toll to 33 people killed by the storm system since Sunday.

In Louisville, Mississippi the Winston County Hospital took a direct hit.

"We honestly felt God's hand of protection around us," one survivor said.  "The clinic is destroyed, but we're all safe and we were all praying the whole time."

In Vilonia, Arkansas 31-year-old Daniel Wassom II, an Iraqi war veteran, died a hero...shielding his wife and two young daughters from the storm.

"He grabbed his family up, his wife grabbed Sydney, he grabbed Lorelai and they got into the hallway, the smallest hallway closest to the center of the house and just laid down on top of them and covered them,"  Wassom's father said.  "He's truly my hero and I'm going to miss him greatly."

Forecasters are warning the worst may not be over.  More storms are expected across the regional later Tuesday and into Wednesday.
