Disaster Drill

Disaster Drill

Red Cross volunteers come together to practice fighting tornadoes.
American Red Cross is exercising a statewide disaster drill, and more than 600 Texas volunteers are getting read for the next big response.

Some of those are right here in our area.

Texas Red Cross chapters, including the Texas Panhandle, will join forces and simultaneously test their ability to respond to a simulated devastating tornado outbreak

Executive Director of the Red Cross Panhandle Chapter Steve Pair says, "as long as communication is flowing and we're working together as a team, its going to be the community and those impacted by the storm that will truly benefit, because our response is going to be a lot more robust, coordinated and in the end we'll be able to serve those that need our help better. "

The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters, and supplies nearly half of the nation's blood.
