CANYON, Texas – Coming off of the program’s 24th appearance in the NCAA Postseason along with their 13th Regional Championship and Elite Eight appearance, the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M and head coach Jason Skoch have announced the 2014 WT Volleyball schedule.
The Lady Buffs will play 33 scheduled matches during the regular season including 16 Lone Star Conference contests, the WTAMU Fieldhouse “The Box” will see a total of 13 regular season contests during the season with eight of those coming in league play. The 2013 Lady Buffs finished the season with an overall record of 35-4 with a perfect 16-0 mark in LSC play to claim the league title while going 22-0 in the friendly confines of “The Box”.
The annual BritKare Lady Buff Classic will kick-off the 2014 campaign on September 5-6 with scheduled matches against Adams State, Colorado Mesa, UC-Colorado Springs and Regis with Texas A&M-Commerce, Eastern New Mexico, Truman State, Texas Woman’s and New Mexico Highlands making the trip to Canyon for the regional crossover event taking place at “The Box” and the First United Bank Center.
WT will hit the road for the first time on Sept. 12-13 as they travel to Kingsville, Texas for the TAMUK Invitational with matches against Adelphi, Fort Lewis, American International and the host Javelinas which will count toward the Lone Star Conference standings. Eastern New Mexico will come to Canyon for a LSC match on Sept. 16 followed by a trip to Lebanon, Illinois for the McKendree Classic (Sept. 19-20) with contests set against Quincy, Truman State and the host Bearcats.
The Lady Buffs will return home for three league contests against Cameron (Sept. 23), Tarleton State (Sept. 26) and Angelo State (Sept. 27) followed by a short trip to Plainview on Sept. 30 to face-off with Wayland Baptist. WT will remain on the road for a pair of LSC matches against Texas A&M-Commerce (Oct.3) and Texas Woman’s (Oct. 4) before returning home on Oct. 7 to face Lubbock Christian.
WT will hit the road again for three more league matches at Cameron (Oct. 10), Midwestern State (Oct. 11) and Eastern New Mexico (Oct. 14) before a pair of home matches against Texas A&M-Kingsville (Oct. 18) and Midwestern State (Oct. 21). The Lady Buffs will step out of conference play for four games with Dallas Baptist and Lubbock Christian on Oct. 24 at the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock before a pair of matches in Weatherford, Oklahoma on Oct. 25 against Oklahoma Baptist and the host Bulldogs of Southwestern Oklahoma State.
The Lady Buffs will travel to San Angelo, Texas to take on the rival Belles of Angelo State on Oct. 31 before starting off November in Stephenville, Texas against Tarleton State on Nov. 1, the final regular season road contest of the season will take place on Nov. 4 against Southern Nazarene before WT returns home for the final two games of the LSC schedule against Texas Woman’s (Nov. 7) and Texas A&M-Commerce (Nov. 8).
The Lone Star Conference Tournament will take place on Nov. 13-15 with the regular season champion earning the right to host the event followed by the NCAA South Central Regionals on Nov. 20-22 and the NCAA Division II Elite Eight on Dec. 4-6 taking place at Knights Hall in Louisville, Kentucky.
