CLOVIS -- A Curry County Grand Jury found that there was no probable cause to charge David Brown, 59, of Friona, Texas, in the shooting death of 73-year-old Max Allen. The Grand Jury found that the shooting was in self-defense.
Brown farmed land owned by Allen in Grady, New Mexico. Brown and Allen had a confrontation when David Brown fired his weapon, killing Max Allen.
District Attorney Andrea Reeb said, “The Grand Jury’s function is to decide whether probable cause exists for a crime. Due to the circumstances of this case, I felt the citizens of this county needed to hear all the evidence and decide whether this matter should go forward on murder charges. The Grand Jury decided the killing was in self-defense and this matter will now be closed.”
David Brown was represented by criminal defense attorney, Randall Harris.
