Covenant Health System announced $40 million of major renovations Thursday morning for Covenant Health Plainview.
PLAINVIEW, TX -- Covenant Health System announced $40 million of major renovations Thursday morning for Covenant Health Plainview.  Covenant will contribute $31.5 million and the Hale County Hospital Authority will contribute $5 million.   Another $3.5 million will come from private fundraising by the non-profit Covenant Plainview Foundation.

Covenant said the Emergency Department will be expanded and completely remodeled.  Covenant also said new surgical suites, patient rooms and family areas will be built on the second floor. Other renovations will also be done including the front entrance.

Construction is scheduled for early 2015 and Covenant said it will take extraordinary measures to prevent any disruption of medical services.

“We are gratified and honored to join the Hale County Hospital Authority on such an important effort to benefit the residents of this region,” said Clay Taylor, chief executive officer of Covenant Health Plainview.

“The project will also have positive economic impact while improving an important asset for recruiting new businesses,” said Jeff Tunnell, Chair of the Hale County Hospital Authority.  “We believe the returns on the authority’s investment will be extremely worthwhile over the long term.”
