AMARILLO -- There's a new trend to help brand new mothers bond with their babies and they're doing it at Northwest Texas Hospital.
It's called couplet care.
This is where the newborn baby is left in mom's room as much as possible.
They say it helps with initial bonding, supports breastfeeding, and makes the transition easier for both mother and child.
And one nurse takes care of both, making communication better.
Couplet care happens unless there's a medical reason it can't for example, if the baby has to be in NICU.
