AMARILLO -- As the energy boom in Texas continues and the security situation in energy-rich countries around the world deteriorates, Congressman Mac Thornberry visited the Amarillo PILOT LNG filling station to learn more about how area businesses are using this fuel and options to expand its availability.
Thornberry highlighted his legislation, inspired by a panhandle resident, to fix the tax disparity between diesel and LNG to encourage more private investment in LNG infrastructure and production.
Thornberry was joined by representatives from the Clean Energy LNG filling station and United Parcel Service (UPS), which use the station to fill its tractors.
"Energy producers in our state have found responsible and commonsense ways to produce more energy from many sources. One of those sources is natural gas. I look forward to hearing more about how this LNG filling station can help deliver this alternative fuel to customers," said Rep. Thornberry.
