Colorado Tornado: Close Call

Teen takes shelter as tornado bears down on her home.
(KUSA)  What started out as a quiet Sunday for Kacey Buttrick took quite a different turn just after 11 a.m when a tornado swept past her Fairplay, Colorado home.

"I hear a loud sound and I looked out the window, and I saw a horse water tank and all the dust and debris flying towards me and I was like, 'oh oh.' Instinct told me, 'go hide in the bathroom,' so I went in the shower," the teen said.

Buttrick said it lasted all of 30 seconds. When she came outside, she saw a broken window and debris scattered around.

"I never imagined a tornado to come through here. It was loud. I remember just the racketing, the house was shaking. I heard the windows cracking," Buttrick said. "I was scared. It was pretty scary. The adrenaline was pumping."
