Christmas in Action Asks Locals to Compose Carols

The organization does work year round, but just as the name implies, organizers are getting in the holiday spirit early and hoping to raise some money with a festive new project. They're asking locals to compose an original Christmas carol.

Priscilla Bristow says she doesn't know what she would do without Christmas in Action.

"Turning 80 pretty soon, it really means a lot," Bristow said of the assistance she received from this local non-profit.

The organziation helps elderly and disabled individuals who need repairs to their homes, but can't cover the cost.

Volunteers painted Bristow's house and put in new fans and a cooling unit.

"It just worked out very good. Everything I needed, everything I needed. And I'm so blessed," Bristow said.

"We're asking them to record their original composition and send it in to us by November the first. And the top twenty people that are chosen after their audition will perform on December the fifth," Lisa Hancock, President of Christmas in Action said.

Hancock says they've already received submissions, and they're excited about this first year fundrasier, helping this organization put Christmas in action all year round.
