The chilly weather didn't stop local daredevils from taking a polar plunge, all for a good cause.
The polar plunge was out at West Texas A&M's Virgil Henson Activities Center, and cost $60 for adults, $30 for children, with all proceeds going toward the Special Olympics, Texas.
Those in charge say the funds could send the local athletes to the regional championships in Arlington.
Volunteer Beth Watson says, well, there's a lot of local Special Olympics athletes and we want to try to raise money to help aid them in making the trip, which they might not be able to afford."
The event helps out more than 600 athletes here in the panhandle.
