BP Found 'Grossly Negligent' In Gulf Oil Spill

The judge also assigned blame to two other defendants, TransOcean and Halliburton, finding them negligent.
The change of a word in a judge's ruling could mean a heftier fine for BP after the worst oil spill in US history.

A Louisiana Federal Judge found the company "grossly negligent" leading up to the 2010 disaster.

That could quadruple the penalties they must pay under the clean water act to $21-billion.

That's because under that law "gross negligence" increases the fine from $1,000 per barrel of oil spilled to more than $4,000.

The judge also assigned blame to two other defendants, TransOcean and Halliburton, finding them negligent.
