GUYMON -- Financial issues at the the Memorial Hospital of Texas County might soon be a thing of the past.

Board members accepted a new management deal with Northwest Texas Healthcare System on Tuesday, a deal that has been in the works since April.

Texas County Commissioners have given the hospital nearly two million dollars over the past couple years to keep the hospital afloat, with $240 thousand approved by commissioners just last month to help pay employees.

But the budget is not the hospital's only issue. Last year, then CEO Lee Hughes was terminated due to a police investigation into alleged fraud open meetings violations. His replacement resigned only three months ago, leaving Julie West as the current interim CEO and the hospital's third CEO in the last year.

Northwest has said the Guymon based hospital will keep their local governing board.

Northwest officials say they'll be providing operational support and advanced care to the hospital, as well as assisting Memorial hospital in navigating the changes in healthcare.
