Blind Girl Races BMX With A Little Help From Dad, Bluetooth

WICHITA FALLS, TX -- For Nora Flynn, 9, of Haslet there is nothing like the rush she feels getting on a bike, and taking the twists and turns on the Wichita Falls BMX track. But Nora is no ordinary racer.

"Well I can't see,” Nora said. “So, I use my Bluetooth.”

Dad is usually not far behind - and while it looks like he’s on his cell phone, he is actually guiding Nora with voice commands through the Bluetooth.

“My dad tells me right or left, and he tells me to roll down those little hills,” Nora said.

Nora was just one of hundreds who traveled to Wichita Falls for the Memorial Day weekend BMX state qualifier. She uses a strider bike – meaning there are no pedals. She has a brake to slow her down on the big hills.

Nora said she had a blast during her weekend at the track. Click on the video link associated with this story to see and hear Nora for yourself.
