Beefathon

Businesses from all around the high plains donated both beef and items today at the Beefathon, all to benefit the MS Society.
Businesses from all around the high plains donated both beef and items at the Beefathon, all to benefit the MS Society.

From hundreds of pounds of beef, to round trip airline tickets courtesy of Southwest Airlines, all items were dispersed via a call in auction, with highest bidder as winner.

A unique part of the auction, because all of the items were donated, all of the money donated goes straight to the local MS Society Chapter.

April Brownlee says, here in the panhandle we have about twice what you statistically expect per capita of people living with MS.  We're just glad to be able to have events like this and get the support that helps us raise money to fund  research. "

The cause of MS is not yet known and neither is a cure for the disease.

It is one of the more expensive diseases to treat, meaning every cent donated today helps.

The local chapter of the MS Society doesn't just serve the panhandle.

It helps those with MS in the Oklahoma panhandle, and even the western parts of New Mexico.
