Beef Prices on the Rise

A shortage of cattle and harsh winter weather has caused a spike in the price of beef.
(KWWL) Americans are paying record high prices for beef right now due to a national cattle shortage, and this winter's harsh weather hasn't helped the situation for consumers.

Data from the US Department of Agriculture show the price of beef is at an all-time high. The most recent numbers - from February - show a pound of regular ground beef costs, on average, $3.56, and that goes up to $5.19 per pound for lean ground beef.
