American Idol hopefuls have less than 48 hours before the tour bus rolls into Amarillo, but it's not just local auditioners who are getting to show off their vocal talents.
Shellie Stapp from Stapp Production says American Idol producers called her, asking her to provide singers for the Amarillo auditions.
Stapp tells us as soon as she found out American Idol was coming to town, she was excited because there are a lot of talented singers in our area.
She says some of her clients have been on American Idol, America's Got Talent and other reality shows.
She believes a lot of people can carry a tune, but that doesn't mean they'll get noticed.
She says Idol reached out to her, hoping to recruit singers who have the "it" factor.
Shellie Stapp say s, "these are specific ones that I requested to see if they wanted to audition because I knew they had something extra to give. They're looking for that "wow" factor and they're looking for "it" "
Stapp tells us she has a 15 year old singer who has been waiting her entire life to be able to audition for the show, and now she's finally getting her shot.
As we told you yesterday, an idol producer says personality is a big part of being the next American Idol.
Stapp says at Stapp Production, they also help singers work on interview skills and always encourage them to stand out, by being themselves, a quality she says can't be taught.
Auditions will be Thursday at 9 a.m. at the Don Harrington Discovery Center.
Idol producers are asking auditioners to not show up before 6 a.m.
