Amarillo Summer Lunch Program Dates Set

The City of Amarillo’s Community Development Office and Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the extension of the Summer Lunch Program through August 22 at the City’s parks.
AMARILLO -- Hunger does not take a summer break. That is why the City of Amarillo’s Community Development Office and Parks and Recreation Department is pleased to announce the extension of the Summer Lunch Program through August 22 at the City’s parks. This is the last Friday before the new school year begins, so children will have access to a meal during the entire summer break.
  
The parks sites offer recreational activities as well as serving a lunch every day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The 17 sites that will operate through August 22 are:
  • Eastridge Park
  • Jan Jacinto Park
  • Avondale Park
  • Bones Hooks Park
  • Hamlet Park
  • Mesa Verde Park
  • Will Rogers Park
  • Gene Howe Park
  • Forrest Hill Park
  • Glenwood Park
  • Benton Park
  • Sunrise Park
  • Oakdale Park
  • Memorial Park
  • Southlawn Park
  • El Alamo Park
  • East Park
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) provides reimbursement for free nutritious meals and snacks. The program helps children in low-income areas get the nutrition they need to learn, play, and grow throughout the summer months when they are out of school.
