Amarillo Police Investigate Big Texas Inn Robbery, Suspect in Custody

An officer saw a woman matching the description of the suspect exit a motel room near Amarillo Boulevard and N. Manhattan. The officer took her into custody, and she has been identified as the suspect.
UPDATE -- Police arrested 44-year-old Paula Gruber.

AMARILLO -- Early this morning, Amarillo Police were called out to the Big Texas Inn on a reported robbery.

A motel employee told officers that she had just been robbed.  

The employee told police that the suspect came in and walked behind the counter.  When the employee told her to step back to the other side of the counter, the suspect produced a handgun and demanded money.  The suspect took the money from the register.  She then made the employee go into a closet or storage area in the office before leaving. 

About one hour later, an officer saw a woman matching the description of the suspect exit a motel room near Amarillo Boulevard and N. Manhattan.  

The officer took her into custody, and she has been identified as the suspect.  She was transported to the Amarillo Police Department for additional investigation.  

No other information is available at this time and names of suspects are not released unless they are booked into jail on the charge.  

APD Robbery detectives are still investigating this case.
