Amarillo Police Arrest Man After Shooting, Woman Suffers Injury

The investigation indicated that an ex-husband had fired one or more shots at interior doorknobs while inside the home. Small fragment of metal that came from one of the bullet impacts hit the victim.

AMARILLO – Amarillo Police arrested 57-year-old Mark Alan Prichard for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon against a family member.

Police responded to a call Saturday afternoon to a home in the 5300 block of Tawney.  The call initially came in as a 911 hang up, but an additional call advised that there was a female was suffering from a gunshot wound. 

Responding officers made contact with the victim who was in a neighbor’s home.  The victim had a minor injury to the temple.

The investigation indicated that an ex-husband had fired one or more shots at interior doorknobs while inside the home. Small fragment of metal that came from one of the bullet impacts hit the victim. 

Prichard approached the neighbor’s home.  He identified himself to officers, but walked away when the officers tried to investigate further. 

Prichard ignored commands to stop. An officer used a TASER to take him into custody.  He was not injured. 

A hospital treated the victim for the non-life threatening injury.
