AMARILLO – Amarillo Police responded to a call out to a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian collision in the 1100 block of S. Mississippi around 6:30 last night.
Officers found that the driver of the blue Ford involved in the accident had fled the scene after striking a juvenile. The juvenile has non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses believed that the driver lived in the area and helped officers locate his home in the 3100 block of W. 11th. Officers initially found no one home.
About a half hour later, officers saw Furat Ali, 47; walk out on the porch of the home.
Police arrested Ali and took him to the Potter County Detention Center on a charge of accident causing injury/death.
Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Department continues to investigate.
