Amarillo College Names New President

The search didn't take long and they didn't have to go far to find the next president of Amarillo College.
AMARILLO  -- Amarillo College has a new president.

The Board of Regents gave Dr. Russell Lowrey-Hart final approval tonight.

Regents didn't have to look long or very far to find a replacement for Dr. Paul Mattney.  Lowery-Hart has served as a vice-president at Amarillo College the past four years.

Tonight's unanimous vote was procedural.  Regents named Lowery-Hart as the sole finalist on July 23, but state law requires a minimum wait of 21 days before taking a final vote.

Lowery-Hart received his bachelor’s degree from West Texas A&M University, a master’s from Texas Tech University, and a Ph.D. from Ohio University.
