AMARILLO -- Amarillo College is holding a Financial Aid Help tonight to help anyone apply for federal financial aid-assistance thats completely free.
The event is from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Amarillo College Community Link located at 2412 N. Grand St., and those who attend can register to win a $200 scholarship.
"There is free money available, Pell Grants that prospective students can apply for that will help them overcome financial barriers to education, and we want to assist students and their parents with completing their financial aid forms," Maury Roman-Jordan, director of outreach services at AC, said.
"We can help get them submitted electronically. We want them to get qualified for as much help as they are eligible for and that they deserve," she said.
Financial aid and academic advisors will be available to assist anyone through the process of financing college and/or enrolling at Amarillo College. They also have valuable information to share about the Adult Students Program at AC-through which qualified students can receive assistance paying for tuition, childcare, transportation and more.
Another valuable resource is the Workforce Investment Act (WIA), which pays college expenses for those who pursue careers that are in demand. Information about the WIA will be readily available at Financial Aid Night.
