2014 Muttfest

Pups from all over made their way to Memorial Park.
Nearly 100 pups made their way out to Memorial Park to hang out.

The 21st annual Muttfest brought more people than ever before.

There were over 30 booths and 30 sponsors, not to mention a lot of dog lovers.

"A lot of dogs, a lot of fun, a lot of support for Amarillo.  It's great.  And those dogs that are at the animal shetlers, they need the help."

All of the money earned will go toward the Amarillo SPCA.

"We have a rescue dog, along with two other dogs. And you know, we support them fully."

Muttfest Co-Chair Mary Ramirez says besides raising money for the SPCA, the event was all about having fun.

Ramirez tells us, "we have lots of fun booths going on.  We've got food. Cowboy Gelato is here.  Ruby's Barbeque is here. "

There were also tons of games and contests.

Ramirez says there was also an owner/pet look alike contest, best singer competition and some good ol' frisbee games.

She says, "this is the sky hounds disc competition.  They have to place here in order to go on to a larger competition."

Ramirez tells us they are very pleased with this years turn out both people and pooches, but she has a message for dog owners in our community.

"If people would realize the importance of spaying and neutering their pets, becaue that is the only way to decrease the over population of unwatned animals."

The goal of this year's Muttfest is to reach $15,000..

Again, all of that money will go toward the Amarillo SPCA.

The SPCA has been in Amarillo for 26 years.

The non-profit cares for nearly 100 dogs and puppies.
