100 Club Annual Meeting: Battle Of The Badges - BBQ Style

Proceeds go toward the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle.
AMARILLO -- The 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle is celebrating its annual meeting today with a BBQ cook-off between teams from Amarillo law enforcement and Amarillo firefighters. The 100 Club also hopes to recruit new members.

The event begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Ashmore Inn & Suites, 2301 I-40 East. It will feature plenty of brisket, sausage and other scrumptious food prepared by the seasoned cooking teams.

Those attending will select the winning cooking team by contributing to the team that, according to their taste buds, is serving up the best food. Proceeds go toward the 100 Club of the Texas Panhandle. Teams will receive separate awards.

"The annual meeting brings together our members and law enforcement and firefighters," said Jeff Mitchell, president of 100 Club, which serves the 26 Panhandle counties. "Its also a prelude to our official Battle of the Badges boxing fundraiser, Oct. 11 at the Amarillo Civic Center. Boxers representing law enforcement and firefighters will be introduced."
