In December of 2011, Naranjo shot approximately five times at the victims vehicle, striking the victim in the leg.

The judge sentenced Naranjo to eight years in prison.

Judge Stephen K. Quinn told the defendant, "The Court is going to impose the 8 years, the citizens of Clovis have the right to expect protection from these situations.  Every time something like this happens it impacts on the freedom of all of us, what I have heard justifies the 8 years sentence."

Naranjo was immediately taken into custody to await transport to the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
