Clovis Fire Department Investigating String of Suspected Arson Cases

Police are asking that citizens be on the lookout for suspicious behavior, particularly in people lurking in alleyways and around out buildings and abandoned houses during the evening hours after dark.
CLOVIS -- The Clovis Police Department with the Clovis Fire Department Fire Marshal is investigating four possible cases of suspected Arson beginning January 18. 
 
Suspicious fires were found in the 400 block of Prince Street and Sycamore Street within about a 90 minute time frame on Saturday evening, January 18 and one in the 600 block of Maple Street on Monday evening, January 20. These fires are considered suspicious due to no utilities being active at any of the fire locations.
 
Police are asking that citizens be on the lookout for suspicious behavior, particularly in people lurking in alleyways and around out buildings and abandoned houses, particularly in the evening hours after dark. 

If someone appears to be out of place for the neighborhood and appears to be looking around a lot as to be trying to avoid detection, please call the Clovis Police Department at 575-769-1921 so that they may check out the situation. 

If it is a situation in which a person appears to be lighting or have lit a fire, contact the police and fire departments immediately by dialing 911.

It is unknown if the fires are connected.
