PAMPA -- On Tuessday at 3:40 p.m., Pampa Police were called out to Lamar Elementary on a possible child abduction call.
School personnel advised that a 10 year old female was picked up from the school by her biological mother, 30-year-old Kamisha Grimes.
Officers were informed by school personnel and the child’s family members that Grimes had all of her custodial rights removed by Child Protective Services through an order of a Dallas County Court, and that the child was now in the custody of another relative.
ue to the circumstances of why the child was removed, officers believed the child could be at risk of harm, and therefore began a missing and endangered child response and investigation.
As part of this process, certain officers immediately began following up on leads of past known locations of the suspect, while other officers began working on the Amber Alert and Mass Media Notification process. Just prior to making the public notifications, Officers located the child in the custody of the suspect in the 500 block of Harlem St.
At approximately 5 p.m., Grimes was taken into custody by the Pampa Police Department on one charge of Kidnapping. She was booked into the Gray County Jail on that charge, along with an outstanding theft warrant from Potter County.
The child was located and was unharmed.
