It found more than six percent of adolescents reported using such medications during the past month.

The CDC says the percentage is about what was expected considering what is known about new disorders and their prevalence among adolescents.

Psychotropic meds include antidepressants and drugs to address attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, schizophrenia and bipolar disorder
