Buffs 4th in AFCA Coaches' Poll

The WT Football team remained 4th in the latest AFCA Coaches' poll.
WACO, Texas – Following its 72-0 win on Homecoming Saturday, the West Texas A&M football team picked up a first place vote in the latest American Football Coaches Association Poll, which was released Monday morning.  The Buffs are fourth in the poll for the fifth consecutive week.

There was very little change in the poll this week as only one team lost this past week.  The top 17 teams remained the same.  Valdosta State remained the top team with 791 points and 28 first place votes following its 52-14 win over Florida Tech.  Minnesota State is second with 764 points and two first place nods.

Northwest Missouri State is third with 726 points, followed by WT with 702 points and one first place vote, while Colorado State-Pueblo is fifth with 669 points and the remaining first place vote.

Chadron State, who WT beat 34-31 earlier this season, remained 19th and Midwestern State moved back into the poll following St. Cloud State’s loss as the Mustangs are 25th.  Tarleton State moved into a tie for 21st with Indianapolis.  The Texans were ranked 22nd last week.

The Buffs travel to Tarleton State this week in a key Lone Star Conference showdown between the only two unbeaten teams in the league as one of three matchups between ranked teams.  Valdosta State visits No. 14 West Alabama and Colorado State-Pueblo travels to Chadron State.
