AMARILLO -- Babcok and Wilcox, the company that currently manages Pantex will continue to do so through next year in spite of the fact the NNSA chose to give the new contract to another company.
B&W was notified on January 8th that they did not win the joint management contract for Pantex and the Y-12 facility in Tennessee.
Since then, they've filed several formal protests with the NNSA.
Last month, the NNSA announced they were re-opening applications for the contract.
The contract extension will allow B&W to continue operations during the application process.
