Avoiding the Flu

The CDC says the flu is spreading. Is there anything you can do to protect yourself?
According to the CDC, high levels of flu activity are expected to continue for the next several weeks. So if you haven't gotten your vaccination yet, get one now.

A lot of people don't know this but even though flu season is already underway, you should still get that vaccine if you haven't done it yet.

As long as the virus is circulating, the CDC recommends you go get the shot.

Flu season is unpredictable, but it could last until May and it takes two to three weeks for the antibodies to build up in your system to protect you.

So the earlier you get it, the better.

In the meantime, a recent Washington Post article has a few suggestions to keep yourself healthy: wash your hands, get plenty of sleep, drink lots of water, eat healthy, it boosts your immune system.

And stay away from people who are sick.

That said, experts say a flu vaccination is really the best way to protect yourself. So if you haven't already, go get that flu shot.
