Amarillo Police Arrest Suspect on Possession of Child Pornography

The warrant was issued about an investigation triggered by a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
AMARILLO -- On July 25, Amarillo Police Crimes Against Persons Squad detectives secured a search warrant for a home in the 2200 block of N. Woodland.

The warrant was issued about an investigation triggered by a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The information allowed investigators to link the address to a computer that had been used to transmit a file that may have included child pornography.

On July 26, at 5:25 p.m., Amarillo Police investigators and an investigator from the 47th District Attorneys Office served the search warrant. Officers seized several computers and related hardware, along with a number of CD and DVD files. No arrests were made during service of the warrant.

Investigators reviewed the files and found multiple images that were child pornography.

Later that day, James Metcalf, 42, came to the police department. Metcalf was interviewed and placed under arrest. He was booked into the Potter Count Detention Center on seven counts of possession of child pornography.
