Amarillo Police Arrest Suspect After Fight Breaks Out

Officers figured out that the owner of the stolen vehicle was driving down S Ross when he saw his vehicle sitting at the gas pumps at the convenience store in the 1500 block of S Ross. The owner confronted the suspect who was sitting in the driver’s seat. The two got into an altercation a fight broke out.
AMARILLO -- On Monday at 9:00 p.m., Amarillo Police were sent to the United Supermarket at 4701 S Washington on a stolen vehicle report. 

When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim who stated that he just had his 1992 Ford F-150 pickup stolen. The owner told police that he pulled into the parking lot and went inside for a few minutes and when he returned his truck was missing. The vehicles ignition is malfunctioning and it can be started either with or without the key. 

The next day at 1:10 p.m., officers were sent to the 1500 block of S Ross on a fight in progress. Upon arrival, officers separated and spoke with the parties involved. 

Officers determined the owner of stolen 1992 Ford F-150 pickup from the day before was driving down S Ross street when he observed his vehicle sitting at the gas pumps at the conviencnce store in the 1500 block of S Ross. The owner then went and confronted the suspect who was sitting in the driver’s seat. The two got into an altercation a fight broke out. The suspect was arrested and placed in the back seat of a patrol car. APD Detectives also responded and assisted in the investigation. 

Property stolen out of the truck was recovered at a residence in the 3200 block of Van Buren. 

The suspect is identified as 23-year-old Devin Scott Leamon. Leamon was transported and booked into Potter County on a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
