UPDATE: Suspect Arrested in Standoff

Amarillo Police is warning the public to avoid the area of NW 12th Ave. and N Forest St.
UPDATE 3:00 P.M. -- Amarillo Police arrested Michael Wills Dibiase, 36, at 11:30 a.m. He had a warrant for parole revocation. 

He was taken to the Randall County Jail and booked on the warrant and hindering apprehension.


UPDATE 11:32 A.M. -- APD SWAT officers report the suspect is in custody.

The area will remain closed to traffic until the investigation is completed.

AMARILLO 8:44 A.M. -- Amarillo Police is warning the public to avoid the area of NW 12th Ave. and N Forest St.

APD and SWAT responded to a call around 11 p.m. Wednesday about a wanted suspect inside a building near the AISD school AACAL.

They advise you to avoid this area. Police believe the suspect may have access to weapons.

Around 5 a.m. Thursday, APD sent a remote-controlled robot into the building. APD officials say they are using chemical agents to arrest the suspect, and they are bringing in a second robot to aid in the process.

Around 8 a.m. Thursday, bystanders reported hearing a loud sound. APD has confirmed the noise came from police activity inside the building.
