Amarillo Man Pleads Not Guilty to Federal Drug Charges

Officials say Juan Gabriel Mejia and Richard Anthony Rios did work together to sell more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.
36 year old Richard Anthony Rios pleads not guilty to federal drug charges.

Pretrial motions are due September 26, and responses are due October 7, 2013.

If you can remmeber, on August 30, 2013 just before 1 in the afternoon, Amarillo Police pulled over a Ford Expedition on I40 in Amarillo for a tinted window violation.

After Rios denied consent for the officer to search the car on suspicion of drugs, a canine came to confirm the suspicion.

About 24 pounds of meth was discovered in the vehicle.

Indictments say Rios worked together with Juan Gabriel Mejia, to distribute more than 500 grams of meth.

Gabriel was arrested back in May on drug charges stemming from a drug bust back in 2008.
