Amarillo EDC Board Approves Filing $1.6 Million Lawsuit

AEDC is filing the lawsuit against Commercial Industrial Builders, Inc. to seek damages not to exceed $1.6 million to fix the Zarges building.
AMARILLO -- Amarillo Economic Development Coproration appoved today the filing of a lawsuit relating to the building at 8701 Centerport BLVD. 

AEDC is filing the lawsuit against Commercial Industrial Buildiers, Inc. to seek damages not to exceed $1.6 million to fix the Zarges building.

During an investigating for an expansion of the building, concerns related to the design of the structure was discovered. 

AEDC ccomissioned two independent reports from seperate structural engineering firms that confirmed the issues with the design of the building. 

"We contacted the original contractor in an effort to resolve this matter without a lawsuit, but our attempts have proved unsuccesful," said Buzz David, President and CEO of AEDC.

The suit will seek to recover the cost of repairs and commission a contractor to rebuild the foundation to the appropriate design standards.
