Albertsons To Sell Off Amarillo and Wichita Falls Stores to Sweetwater Based Lawrence Brothers

An Albertson's spokesperson said one of the conditions set by the Federal Trade Commission for the United takeover was to sell its local Albertson's stores in Wichita Falls and Amarillo.
AMARILLO -- Back in September, the Idaho based Albertson's announced it was purchasing Lubbock based United Supermarkets.

Now, as a result of that deal, Albertson's has announced it is selling its Amarillo and Wichita Falls Albertson's store to family owned Lawrence Brothers Supermarkets based in Sweetwater.

An Albertson's spokesperson said one of the conditions set by the Federal Trade Commission for the United takeover was to sell its stores in Wichita Falls and Amarillo.

With the purchases, Lawrence Brothers will have about 20 stores in Texas and New Mexico, mostly small towns including Knox City, Munday, and Seymour.

The new stores will become their biggest markets.
