More than 150 Amarilloans laced up their tennis shoes this morning for the first cardinal trail run around Ascension Academy.
Proceeds for the run were used to help student pay for the cost of Ascension Academy.
The three mile run went through what was called a true West Texas dirt trail, with a post-race breakfast burrito to look forward to.
Director of Development at Ascension Academy Charee Godwin-Smith says, "we are raising money to offset tuition costs for Ascension Academy. We want to make it affordable for families and we want to provide financial assistance and so we're just helping provide money to do that."
The all-time fastest male and female runners, Jacob Myer and Kaci Lee were named trail blazers for the race.
