AMARILLO – The Amarillo Venom will wear throwback uniforms June 7 against the West Texas Wildcatters at Cal Farley Coliseum.
Sponsored by Throwbacks Sports Bar as well as part of the Texas Gold Night festivity, the jerseys will don the word “Tradition” on the back. The symbolism behind “Tradition” is the strong seasons enjoyed by the Dusters and Venom franchises, beginning from the Dusters collecting a 2004 Intense Football League championship, stellar campaigns in af2 and the Indoor Football League in 2010 to the Venom capturing the first two LSFL championships.
Another mark of “Tradition” is none other than Head Coach Julian Reese, who had been with both the Dusters and the Venom – as a quarterback and presently as head coach.
On the shoulders, there are stripes that are influenced by the “Under the Lights” uniform that the Michigan Wolverines used in 2011 against Norte Dame. Another touch is an orange A in front of an outline of the state of Texas.
After the game, the venom will auction off the jerseys.
