Lady Buffs Make It Eight Straight Weeks Atop of the NFCA Division II Top-25 Poll

- LOUISVILLE, Kentucky – For the eighth straight week, the Lady Buffs of West Texas A&M have remained atop of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top-25 Poll announced on Wednesday morning by the association's office in Louisville, Kentucky. It also marks the second consecutive week that WT was the unanimous selection with all 16 of the first place votes for a perfect total of 400 points.
A pair of midweek sweeps over Lubbock Christian and New Mexico Highlands along with a Lone Star Conference weekend doubleheader sweep of Eastern New Mexico on the road pushed the WT win streak to 15 games. The Lady Buffs enter the weekend with an overall record of 42-4 with a 17-4 mark in league play to sit in second place just a game behind #7 Angelo State who comes to Canyon the last weekend of the regular season.
The Lady Buffs received all 16 of the possible first-place votes for a total of 400 points followed by Cal State Monterey Bay (359), Alabama Hunstville (349), North Georgia (334), Missouri-St. Louis (327), Emporia State (326), Angelo State (288), Humboldt State (280), Tampa (287) and Caldwell (256) to round out the top ten. The South Central Region was represented by WT, Angelo State (7th), St. Mary's (11th) and Texas Woman's (23rd).
The Lady Buffs continue their homestand on Friday night as they host the rival Zias of Eastern New Mexico in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader with first pitch set for 5 p.m. at Schaeffer Park in Canyon. Friday is presented by High Plains Fastpitch with a pair of winners chosen from an online video submission throwing out the first pitch while the three Lady Buff senior will be honored between games for Senior Night.
