RICHARDSON – West Texas A&M senior third baseman Jessica Sipe was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week for the second time this season announced by the league’s offices.
The Lady Buffs enter the week with an overall record of 44-4 with a 19-4 mark in the LSC to sit tied atop of the league standings.
Sipe continued her hot streak at the dish this past week as the junior third baseman hit .571 with two doubles and one homerun in just seven official at-bats with three walks while driving in nine RBI for a slugging percentage of 1.286 with an on-base percentage of .636 in WT’s four games on the week.
The Phoenix, Arizona native registered an inside-the-park grand slam along with an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning in the doubleheader opener against New Mexico Highlands as the WT starting lineup never got out of the frame as Sipe went 2-for-2 with five RBI in the 28-2 rout of the Cowgirls as WT set or tied single game LSC records for runs scored, RBI and hits in the win.
The Lady Buffs return to action this weekend as they host the #7 Rambelles of Angelo State in a four-game Lone Star Conference series to decide the 2014 conference champion.
