Amarillo, Texas -
CANYON -– The No. 6 West Texas A&M baseball team returns home to host Wayland Baptist in the final non-conference regular season game of the season Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Wilder Park. WT enters with a 31-12 record overall and Wayland Baptist is 30-17.
It is Faculty Appreciation Day at Wilder Park and it also is Meet the Buffs as there will be an autograph signing after the game as fans are encouraged to bring something to be signed by the players.
WT is coming off of a 1-2 weekend at Angelo State. The Buffs held leads in the first two games, but big innings by the Rams proved to be the difference late in each game. The two losses dropped the Buffs out of a tie for first in the LSC. The Buffs are one game back of Texas A&M-Kingsville with six conference games to play. WT owns the tiebreaker with TAMUK and has a five game lead on Angelo State, while also holding the tiebreaker with the Rams.
The winner of the regular season will host the conference tournament, May 8-10. The Buffs host Tarleton State this weekend for Senior Weekend, before closing the regular season at Cameron, May 2-3. TAMUK hosts Angelo State this weekend and finishes at Tarleton State.
