CANYON – West Texas A&M head softball coach Kevin Blaskowski has announced the addition of Rebekah Ragsdale as the new Graduate Assistant Coach for the Lady Buffs for the upcoming season. The Lady Buffs finished the 2014 season with the program’s first ever National Championship, registering a 60-7 overall record.
“I'm very excited to add Rebekah to our staff, she had a great collegiate career at Mary Hardin-Baylor and she is committed to becoming a great coach” said Blaskowski “She will bring a lot of pitching experience to our staff and I am looking forward to working with her."
Ragsdale joins the WT staff following a standout collegiate career at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, Texas where she was a National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Third Team All-Region selection as a senior for the Crusaders, leading the team to an overall record of 30-14. She went 20-6 in the circle with 28 total appearances and 170 innings of work, allowing just 132 hits with 41 runs and 116 strikeouts while breaking the UMHB single season record for wins with 20. She also excelled academically, being named to the Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District team for efforts in the classroom.
The Orange, Texas native is the UMHB all-time career leader in victories (50) and strikeouts (308) while being named the American Southwest Conference (ASC) West Division Pitcher of the Year following her sophomore season in 2012. Ragsdale helped the Crusaders to an overall record of 85-47 during her three seasons in Belton following a one-year stint at Galveston College in 2011. She graduated from West Orange Stark High School in 2011, garnering All-District and Academic All-State honors while being named the District MVP twice.
