CANYON, Texas – West Texas A&M head men’s basketball coach Tom Brown has announced that Arlington Bowie standout David Chavlovich will join the Buffs for the 2014-15 campaign, Chavlovich is the second high school prospect and the fourth overall player to sign with the Buffs along with Jeff Bonner, Jordan Evans and Tommy Gove who were announced in late May.
“David is going to be an excellent player for us at West Texas A&M, he has played at a very high level not only in high school but on the AAU circuit and he is someone that we feel will make an immediate impact in our program” said Brown “Offensively, he is a player who can knock down shots and create for others on his team along with being able to pick up and allow us to extend our defense. He is a physically strong player that has an outstanding knowledge of the game and David is also a very strong student in the classroom. We are very fortunate to have him playing for us at West Texas A&M.”
Chavlovich, a 5-11 guard, comes to Canyon following a standout prep career at Arlington Bowie High School (Texas) where he was named the District 3-5A Offensive Player of the Year as a senior, averaging 15 points per game for the Volunteers to lead the team to the Texas 5A Regional Finals to finish the season with a 27-6 overall record. Chavlovich was an All-Region selection while also being honored with an invitation to the Dallas County/Tarrant County All-Star Game along with the Elements of a Champions All-Star Game.
