Bergeron Talking to WT

Former University of Texas running back Joe Bergeron is talking with the West Texas A&M football coaching staff about transferring to Canyon.

Bergeron was released from his scholarship on Wednesday after being dismissed from the UT football team last Friday.  The West Texas A&M athletics department had filed paperwork with UT asking to speak to Bergeron before he was released from his scholarship.

West Texas A&M head coach Mike Nesbitt said in a text message on Wednesday afternoon that the two sides were "just talking."

If Bergeron were to transfer to West Texas A&M or any Division II school he would be eligible to play immediately.  In three season at Texas Bergeron ran for more than 1,300 yards and scored 25 touchdowns.

West Texas A&M's running game featured senior Aaron Harris in 2013, with Geremy Alridge serving as Harris' primary backup.  Alridge averaged 37 yards per game in 2013.
