New York Yankees star Alex Rodriguez is suing Major League Baseball and League Commissioner Bud Selig.

The lawsuit accuses the MLB and Selig of trying to destroy the third baseman's reputation and career.

Rodriguez was suspended in August from 211 games after the league accused him of taking performance-enhancing drugs and having ties to a now-defunct Miami clinic embroiled in the steroid scandal.

A-Rod is fighting his suspension through arbitration but released a statement saying the lawsuit is separate from that appeal.
