West Texas A&M's new improv group will wrap up its first year with another first; the group is joining Paper Crane Art Gallery for an event called "Artprov".
"They can come out and get improv but also get an exposure to the art community that we have here in Canyon and Amarillo that they might not have known even existed," Josiah Robinson, one of the founding members of the campus improv group, Agents of Shield.
Robinson and his friend J.T. Sherrer started the improv group at WT. They've performed shows on campus and around town, but Artprov is a new project for them.
"They can improvise off of old classical paintings, or you know be inspired by those paintings, like Mona Lisa or Night Hawks," Jesse Melson, Paper Crane owner said.
Melson says the idea is to get people laughing and maybe teach them a thing or two. And these guys are pretty sure they can get you laughing.
"We've had a lot of people come to our shows, and so I mean I think we are pretty good. I like to think so," Tyler Bunch, one of the group members said, laughing.
The group is hoping for some new faces at this new show.
"This is just a great way to just get off campus and come across the street and just reach out to a different audience. We're just so excited to be able to share our love of improv with whoever might come into the store tonight," J.T. Sherrer said.
Combining a love of improv and a love art, but the main goal is really to make you laugh.
The show starts at 7:30 pm. The event is free, but seating is limited. If you miss Friday's show, the group is performing at Palace Coffee on Saturday at 6:30.
