Workforce Solutions Panhandle: 2017 Career Explorer Expo Set For September 30

Workforce Solutions Panhandle is hosting the first Career Explorer EXPO in celebration of Careers in Texas Industries Week. This statewide initiative in partnership with The Texas Workforce Commission, the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, and Tri-Agency partners, is designed to increase awareness among middle and high school students about the opportunities of in-demand careers in Texas industries.

The event is from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Westgate Mall’s Center Court. The Career EXPO is open to all area middle and high school students and will provide the opportunity to meet local professionals and discuss a variety of career options. These interactions will benefit as they begin to make plans that affect career related coursework in high school and beyond.

This event is a collaborative effort of several local businesses, education, and community service organizations such as Workforce Solutions Panhandle, Panhandle Regional Planning Commission, and local school districts. All employers, career paths and educational goals presented at the event are designed with our area student’s future in mind.
Some employers attending include Bell Helicopter, Phillips 66, State Farm Insurance, International Aerospace Coatings, Bureau of Land Management, Independent Electrical Contractors of the Texas Panhandle, Amarillo Police Department, US Army, and many more.
