AMARILLO -- Beginning May 1, Walmart stores and Sams Club warehouses throughout the High Plains region are helping every child live better by raising needed charitable funds for Childrens Miracle Network Hospitals.

Beginning May 1 through June 11, Walmart customers and Sams Club members can quickly add a Miracle Balloon donation of $1 or more during checkout, with 100 percent of funds flowing directly to the Amarillo Affiliate of Childrens Miracle Network.

Donations will provide funding for medical travel grants, family grants to assist with medical bills and home medical needs and support for the Child Life Programs at Northwest Texas Healthcare System and Baptist St. Anthonys Health System.

Since 1987, Walmart and Sams Club have raised funds for 170 childrens hospitals in communities through the U.S. and Canada, with more than $54 million raised for U.S. hospitals in 2013 alone and $180,867 raised locally for the Childrens Miracle Network - Amarillo Affiliate.

Our own Andy Justus emceed the event.
